“Yoga is a light which, once lit, will never dim. The better you practice, the brighter the flame” BKS Iyengar

Your Teacher
Kathy was introduced to yoga through her mother as a child and first began attending classes while studying Biology at the University of Liverpool over 20 years ago. Here she developed an understanding of how yoga could improve her quality of life, on the physical, emotional and spiritual levels.

This led her to attend yoga classes in India before returning to Europe where she studied for 3 years under the guidance of her Iyengar yoga teacher in Devon, England.

On moving to Ireland she completed her 2 year teacher training with Ireland’s most senior Iyengar yoga teacher, Aisling Guirke.

Since then, she has undergone continuous training in her own practice under the guidance of senior students of BKS Iyengar from India, the UK and Ireland, including studying with Geeta Iyengar in England.

She is currently certified as a Junior Intermediate Level 2 teacher. She also qualified and worked extensively as a science teacher, and is able to combine her knowledge of human anatomy with her experience of yoga to lead you safely and expertly through your class to bring the greatest improvements in your practice.

Kathy is a member of the Iyengar Yoga Association (UK) and holder of the Iyengar Yoga Certification Mark, a registered trade mark awarded to qualified teachers who continue their professional development.

She was a founding member of the Munster Iyengar Yoga Institute. A not-for-profit organisation, it’s aims are to promote Iyengar yoga in the community. She has been Chair for the last 3 years.
